Grapevine Leaves on a mug near my desk

Tuesday June 7, 2005 - 2:56PM EDT

Finally found out about the job offer. Basically they can't meet my price. And I thought I was going to have to buckle down and get a real job. Dodged a bullet there, like a fucking freelance master jedi of unsteady employment. Dude there is no way I am lowering my price to stay at this place. It is not even close to worth it. I'll stil do some contract work for a bit. But I will be looking for other things and of course my never ending "projects". I am actually aproaching finishing the project they originally had me doing. So when I do leave everything should be complete, kinda. I'll have built up a nice money stash to last a few months after I leave and maybe I'll be able to find something on the West Coast by then or a project will start to bring in some money.

I guess I am kind of excited to go back to working full-time on my projects. The progress has really slowed lately and I have some things I want to try out and follow up on. There is also that business of making a movie. I guess working for a year and saving up to make a movie might be a good idea. Next year, I still need to see these projects to some kind of conclusion or at least give them a bit more time and effort. Listening to Stevie Wonder right now. Now Dave Matthews. I think I figured out a wicked awesome new way to organize a site I am redesigning. Should make it turbo awesome and turbo easy to administer. I had some turbo hot curry for lunch. It was great. Hot a spicy so I started to sweat a little when eating it. Sitting here...damn I want to make a movie. Fuck, I will get there soon enough.

Ocassionaly I'll go back and read a post. Then I'll think sometimes, damn that is loony or that is not what I meant. Ah well, beans and disease. Every few seconds for the past few minutes I've been attempting to balance a banana on the bridge of my nose and my head. It actually serves as quite an amusing diversion for a few seconds. I wish I was somewhere else right now. Don't know where. Tropical island somewhere on the beach with the charming sounds of calypso music in the background. Yo Remo you want to help me make a version of the software for Windows/Mac OSX. It would be wicked awesome right click functionality. I guess things out there do it already but we will talk.

Back to my new web-based php application organization method. It is similar to Apache Cocoon but using php. It also allows for maximun designer flexibility when setting up pages. Which can often be a problem with some frameworks as the intrude on the design side too much. If XML XSLT was supported more on client platforms then this new thing would be even easier. I don't like those PHP template engines. They add way too much overhead and are too complex for simple things. My thing is not really a framework but just the new way I am going to organize my web-based apps in php. It will make things a whole lot simpler for designing and keeping code together. It is based on the way I organized the blogging software but slightly better with less files and less duplication of function. Basically everything is built around a codebase or toolbox. One folder(with many subfolders) holds the base program for generating pages. You simply need to a add a single reference to a php file to access the toolbox from a page. A config file loads to proper tools for a page based on the path. Then you design the page using php echo tags that dump data into your page. The tools can be very small discrete pieces or larger mechanisms. So it is like building with legos. Designer of the page has ultamite control without having to worry about code. This approach is going to work well with some of my other projects to keep things organized. What the fuck am I blogging about this crap for.

I want to go home now. I'm bored. Need to work on a website.
